People often ask how long a patch lasts. There are really two questions: how long to wear one patch, and how long a pouch stays usable before you open it.
The Drug Facts label directs adults and children 12 years of age and over to wear one patch for up to 48 hours. Children under 12 should consult a doctor. "Up to" is a maximum, not a target. You can remove the patch sooner.
The patch is not water-resistant. Remove it before bathing, showering or swimming, and let the skin dry before applying a new one.
The label says to stop use and ask a doctor if your condition worsens, irritation occurs, or symptoms persist for more than 7 days or clear up and occur again within a few days. Wearing patches for longer is not a substitute for medical evaluation.
The label says not to use the product if the pouch is opened or damaged, and to store it at room temperature and not freeze it. Because an opened pouch should not be used, open a pouch when you are ready to apply a patch.
